Even with hundreds of roaming agreements, operators are unable to achieve complete worldwide SMS connectivity. Regarding SMS sent to destinations they can't reach, they have to:

drop these SMS, leading to revenue loss and dissatisfied customers
forward these SMS to a SMS Relay provider. As standard SMSC can't manage Least Cost Routing processing to several SMS Relay provider, a single or at most two SMS Relay providers are used and the prices are high.

MCTEL SMS Center Hub, compliant with the GSM Association's SMS Hubbing recommendations, solves this problem and allows the operators to expand their SMS coverage and perform significant savings.
