After its tremendous success on European networks, Premium mobile services are expanding worldwide to sustain mobile operators' ARPU growth and SMS traffic increase by allowing external information providers to build value-added mobile applications over their existing SMS, MMS and WAP network features.
Located as an intermediate gateway between the information provider server and the operator's SMS/MMS-Center, MCTEL VAS Connectivity Gateway avoids direct external access to the SMSC, performs information provider authentication, masks subscribers MSISDN numbers using aliasing features, and manages Premium charging and billing. Mobile operators take advantage of this new offer to increase ARPU, generate growing income and new profits, and offer advanced value-added services.
The information provider side of the gateway supports SMPP and UCP standard protocols over TCP/IP, VPN, SSL and X.25. SMPP, UCP and XML/SOAP APIs can be supplied to the information providers and large accounts to help them set up quickly their applications. The MCTEL VAS Connectivity Gateway seamlessly integrates in the network and interwork with the existing SMS-Centers through SMPP and UCP protocols.
